ABOUT YOUR TRIP

Our Lady of Guadalupe also known as the Virgin of Guadalupe is a Roman Catholic title of the Blessed Virgin Mary associated with a venerated image enshrined within the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. The basilica is the most visited Catholic pilgrimage site in the world.

A pilgrimage to Mexico is a great way to experience the incredibly rich culture of our neighboring country and strengthen your faith. On this memorable trip, you will celebrate Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe and see the sackcloth of Juan Diego bearing the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe that hangs above the main altar. Other common sites include the Pyramids of Teotihuacan and Chapultepec Park to see collections of the ancient Mayan civilization.

This plaza symbolizes the unique blend of pre-Hispanic and Hispanic cultures that make up Mexico. This Shrine was built in response to Our Lady’s request to the visionary, St. Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin. Upon arrival at the Shrine, you will celebrate Mass as you marvel at the brilliantly colored Basilica. Following Mass, you will join the other pilgrims as you kneel in front of the “Tilma”, where Our Lady’s image was miraculously imprinted. Guided tour of the Basilica and time for prayers and confessions (if wished).

After that we will go to the National Palace. This extraordinary palace has been a building of the ruling class of Mexico since the government of the Aztec Empire. We will continue towards the Plaza de Santo Domingo: this square contains two sacred places that are architecturally exquisite; the church of Santo Domingo, the first church built by the Dominicans in 1576 and; the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary, the first Shrine of the Rosary in Mexico, followed by a visit to the Shrine of Our Lady of Covadonga, headquarters of the Brotherhood of the Holy Rosary.
